SATURDAY 14 NOVEMBER 2009
ELECTION RESULTS ARE IN
The results are in and by a very slim margin a 1 cent sale tax has been approved. This brings the tax level up to 8 cents per dollar, or 8% of a sale. While this website supported the tax we also looked for those opposed to the tax. In this vote one very disturbing picture arose painting a picture of voting in the Parish. Low turnouts and slim margins are becoming an normal here.
Without worry on the voting side the correct side won this election. Plaquemines Parish will now begin moving forward with a real Fire Department. 45 full time Firemen and employee's. This is not a big department by no means, in fact it's really quite small and inadequate for the land area they will be covering.
